When it comes to carpeting, carpet carpet is most often implied - long-known roll material. But there is another variety of them - carpet tiles. This is the most progressive invention of mankind in the field of carpet weaving. With this kind of carpet you can combine options and achieve an interesting design.

What is the structure of such a tile?

Speaking quite primitively, this is a carpet cut into standard squares of 50x50 cm. But not everything is so simple. Unlike the latter, carpet tile has a rigid base. It is made of bitumen or polyvinyl chloride and reinforced with fiberglass. The base gives the coating elasticity and strength, protects it from slipping, provides a snug fit of individual modules during installation.

Due to the multilayerness of carpet tiles, the surface under the legs is durable and elastic.

The top layer is a pile (split or loop).

As the “process” advances, do not forget about the need to constantly monitor the parallelism and perpendicularity of the tile edges. An incorrectly installed coating fragment should be torn off and carefully glued again.
Thus, the entire area of the room is filled. Walls may need to trim the edges of the tiles.
In rooms with low traffic it is permissible to lay tiles in a free way (without fixing).

In general, such tiles are rare, at least in our city. It is very interesting to know if it is sold in some online stores or if you can order it in some stores on the spot? It was just in some construction sites and they did not hear anything about this method of laying carpets. I would like to combine something unusual in our corridor. A plain and simple combination will not suit me. I want something bright and fun, but at the same time harmonious. And yet, I want to ask those who did this work at home - will the edges of the tiles then go off and stick out? I am very worried about this.

This is the first time I have heard of such flooring as carpet tiles. To myself in the apartment, I hardly ever bed something like that. Firstly, even with a washing vacuum cleaner you will not clean the carpet from dust and dirt by 100%, in any case, you must periodically knock out, shake out the whole thing. Once a year we give our carpets a dry cleaning service. Secondly, there are places where you can’t crawl with a vacuum cleaner, so the dust accumulates there for years. Again the stain problem. No matter how you try, spots will appear anyway, especially when there are children. Have to change one tile every week. Carpet is easier.

A very interesting idea, be sure to take note. I love carpets in the interior, I think that they add comfort and warmth to the house. A simple laminate or linoleum looks in my opinion, poor and boring. And such an idea with carpet tiles is generally excellent. I think such a tile would fit into the bedroom. I agree with the last commenter that it is important to choose the right colors. For me, the perfect combination of pastel colors, I do not like the brightness and brightness in the interior. Such a tile would fit perfectly into the nursery. Warm and comfortable - what children need. If you also choose nice colors, it will be generally super.

In my opinion, carpet tile outperforms a standard rolled carpet in many ways: it makes it possible to play fantasy and make the coating multifaceted and colorful, on a rigid basis, which means it is more durable, when worn, only part, not all, of the material itself can be replaced, less easier to calculate the right amount.
