What tools do you need to lay the tiles and how to make the markup?

I decided in the kitchen to lay the tiles myself. In this regard, I have two questions.

  • First: what tools I need - a real minimal set, without any expensive professional elements.
  • Second: how to correctly markup at the very beginning of work?

Thank you in advance for your response.

We will answer in the same sequence in which the questions are posed. At first, we only note that they are set very correctly, so, of course, you can cope with the task.

Tools

In the process of laying floor tiles, you can not do without:

  • notched trowel 10x10 mm;
  • diamond file (curly holes are cut out with it);
  • roulettes;
  • crosses for seams.

Marking and styling

To make it easier to understand, let's simulate the situation: the tiles will be laid in a standard kitchen: length - 3 m, width 2.6 m. For example, take a square tile 30 cm x 30 cm. Operation:

  • We find the middle of the room in width, that is, 1.3 m back from the wall.
  • Through the middle we draw a straight line, dividing the room into 2 equal parts.
  • We perform a similar procedure with respect to length. That is, the middle will be at a distance of 1.5 from the walls. We put marks, draw a line. The result is 4 equal to each other rectangles.
  • At the intersection is the center of the kitchen room, and from it we begin laying tiles. Thus, if you have to cut tiles, then from opposite sides there will be identical segments, which will look aesthetically pleasing.
  • Stacking begins in one of the rectangles. From the center, glue is applied to the prepared surface using a notched trowel. The first tile lies in the central corner.
  • After that, other tiles are laid, and do not forget to install dividing crosses after each element.
  • Gradually fill the entire rectangle with tiles, and then, in the same way, arrange the coating in the other 3 marked sectors.

In principle, everything, you can familiarize yourself with laying the floor tiles in other sections of our site.
