Leveling a wooden floor under a laminate

How to align wooden floors with laminate flooring? The floors are old, there are cracks and bumps in height of about 5-8 mm. The idea was to cover them with a chipboard type slab, but the unevenness of the base led to the bending of the sheets (the floor “walks”), the fastening of the chipboard with screws to the base additionally “led” the floor plane. Find some solid mixture for leveling and apply it under the chipboard.

Sergey, the problem you described is a fairly common phenomenon, which can be combated not only with putty mixtures, but also with flooring. To do this, before using a looping machine, the nail heads must be deposited in an array of boards. Due to the fact that the use of this method leads to the thinning of the rough floor, it is possible to resort to it only when using boards of sufficient thickness (at least 50 mm).

The second method that you can use in your case is leveling the floor with plywood sheets from a thickness of 20 mm in mini-lags. Of course, in this case, the base for laying the laminate will rise to a height of more than 50 mm, so it is not always suitable.

As for the filling compound you are looking for, it exists both in the form of a ready-made mixture, which you can buy in the distribution network, and in the form of a recipe for self-cooking. If you want to use a ready-made solution - look at Vetonit 3300 putty mixture in building markets or markets. This composition is suitable for leveling wooden floors with height differences of up to 10 mm, which will be more than enough for your case.

If you are not looking for easy ways or want to save money, you can use a home-made composition, which is obtained by mixing small wood chips (necessarily dry) with PVA glue. As practice shows, this mixture, when dried, has sufficient strength so that it can be used to lay the topcoat.
