5 reliable ways to hang a picture on the wall without holes and nails
If you decide to hang a picture in the apartment, but have not decided on the place or do not want to make a hole in the wall, check out 6 ways without using nails.
Use a tailor's pin
The method is suitable if the picture is light, preferably small and without a frame. A pin is stuck into the wall and will hold on surfaces with wallpaper and on drywall. But sticking it into painted concrete or brick will fail.
It is better to pick up a pin with a thin and stiff needle. If using a decorative model, you can detach the ball. So the mount is invisible.
Before you get down to business, make sure that the picture does not weigh more than 1 kg. Otherwise, you can’t do without nails.
We use double-sided tape
Also suitable for light and small paintings or photo frames. Scotch tape holds well on drywall, paper and tile. You can use regular tape on a fabric basis. The foamed version is suitable for heavier items:
- Measure the picture and the mounting height in advance.
- Indicate the place of gluing.
- Put one strip of tape on the wall and the other on the frame and glue them together.
It is advisable to unfold the tape at the last moment before gluing so that the dust does not settle. The higher the weight of the picture frame, the wider take the tape - from 1 cm minimum.
Minus double-sided tape - hard to remove from the paper surface. Therefore, take your time with the measurement and designation. And if you still need to peel off the adhesive tape, first soften the glue by blowing it with warm air from the hair dryer.
We use a paper clip
The method is suitable only for hanging light paintings on the surface of the wallpaper. In addition to a paper clip, you will also need a clerical or mounting knife and superglue:
- Make a cross-shaped incision in a wallpaper with a clerical knife.
- Bend the paper clip so that a hook forms on one side and a straight tooth on the other.
- Insert a clip tooth into the hole and lean against the wall against the stop, only the hook should look out.
- Then apply glue into the hole and a little over the folded edges of the wallpaper to close the cut. Hang the frame after drying.
We use Velcro
There are several types of fasteners on a sticky basis: fasteners, regular Velcro, hooks. They can stick to different surfaces, both wallpaper and tile or paint. Depending on the model, Velcro can withstand different weights, up to 7 kg.
Unlike adhesive tape, Velcro is easier to remove from the surface and with careful removal it can be reused.
We use construction glue
The latter option is suitable for heavy paintings and if you are sure that the painting sags until the next repair. The glue adheres perfectly to the surface, and it is unlikely to be able to be carefully removed. Liquid nails are suitable as glue. But before using them, the glued surfaces must be cleaned and the frame degreased.
Put a nail on the frame, press it against the wall and wait until the glue dries. If the picture is large, smear it with a snake, and if it is small and light, a couple of drawing points are enough.
