Painting on wooden floors - creating an exclusive through a stencil
Wooden floors themselves are an example of good taste and, with proper care, look great. Nobody argues with this, but still sometimes you want something new, original and unusual. But what if you paint the floors with bright colors or put a picture on a wooden surface? Of course, not all of us are artists who masterfully own a brush, but this obstacle to beautiful floors can be easily circumvented. It is enough to use the technique of screen painting, which involves applying paint through a template. If you liked this idea, then let's talk about it in more detail.
Advantages of this custom solution
It is easy to understand the increased interest of designers in painting: monophonic floors do not always look harmonious indoors. And carpets or rugs, which could bring brightness, not everyone likes because of the ability to accumulate dust. Wooden floors decorated with intricate murals in the form of plants, birds, animals are quite another matter. They will give an unforgettable charm to your room (most often such floors are used in rooms of a vintage or rustic style), and their care will remain exactly the same as for a regular wooden surface.
Which pattern to choose?
Screen drawings, which are applied to a wooden floor, can be of very different orientations. For example, in the form of floral ornaments, geometric shapes, imitation of ceramic tiles and any other compositional solutions prompted by your imagination. Do not chase too complex drawings, especially if you are new to the art industry. Practice shows that simple patterns, selected with taste, look no less spectacular.
For a refined, but unpretentious design, border patterns are applied that are applied around the perimeter of the room in the form of a tape with or without patterns. They can exist on their own or serve as a frame and addition to the main drawing, located in the central area of the room.
Brush selection and stencil preparation
Stencil and brush - the main tools that you will need when applying floor painting. It is optimal for these works to purchase a special screen brush with a dense dense bristle that is evenly trimmed at the same level. You can also use small synthetic sponges, pieces of foam rubber, paint rollers - all of them allow you to apply the paint in an even dense layer.
The choice of stencil should also be considered carefully. Firstly, his drawing should coincide with your desires regarding future painting. Secondly, the material of its manufacture should not be destroyed by the action of paint. Such materials include waterproof paper, acetate film, metal sheets.
You can purchase ready-made stencils in stores selling art supplies. However, it is not always possible to find a stencil with the desired pattern. In this case, one thing remains - to make a template yourself. It is ideal to use an acetate film for this - it is inexpensive, transparent in texture and quite durable in use.
First you need to draw the selected pattern on paper (for example, copying it from the Internet), cut it out, and then transfer it to the acetate film using a wax pencil. After that, the film is laid on a flat hard surface and with a sharp knife, the pattern is carefully cut along the contour (most often along the inside).
Paint technology
First you need to mark the floor with indicative marks, which you will adhere to when drawing. Typically, elements are indicated in the form of squares, the size of which corresponds to the stencil. To create a border picture, it is enough to draw a straight line around the perimeter of the room, to which a template will be applied in the future.
Before applying paint to the floor, the stencil must be fixed so that its displacement does not occur. To do this, you can use a conventional mounting tape or aerosol adhesive. This way you can fix the stencil, and then easily remove it.
The paint is applied very carefully, with printed movements up and down. Make sure that smudges do not form at the same time - to do this, adjust the amount of paint applied to the brush. If it turns out that one layer of the picture looks dull, wait for it to dry and apply the paint again. After that, the stencil moves to the next element of the picture. Each time the stencil is moved, it is advisable to rinse it with warm water to remove excess paint. Then you will be sure that each new drawing will be made clearly along the contour of the stencil.
Thus, gradually moving the stencil and checking the arrangement of artistic elements with each other, after several hours of work, you can get an exclusive floor painting. Well, in order to consolidate this beauty, after the paint dries, the floor is covered with several layers of varnish.
The elements of the screen pattern can be repeated on other surfaces of the room - on the walls, shelves or ceiling. Thus, a unifying theme is created, which allows you to withstand the single character of the room and bring design harmony into it.
