Examples of design of floors from tiles, porcelain tiles + combinations of materials
Thinking over the interior design for our home, we make a lot of efforts to make it an example of style and comfort. A huge role in this process is played by the right choice of finishing materials. Having bought the wallpaper just a few tones lighter or darker than intended, we risk completely ruining the impression. The room should remain beautiful not only in the first few days after the renovation, but also as long as possible. So it is important that the finishing materials are also practical. This is especially true for flooring. It is this part of the room that is most affected by pollution and mechanical stress. In addition, by choosing the right floor design, you can visually change the geometry of the room.
Practicality considerations dictate the order of actions here - first you need to determine the type of coating and only then choose a design. After all, you will not begin to lay on the floor in the bathroom material that is afraid of moisture. And a light carpet in the room where they walk in street shoes is unlikely to be appropriate. Let's look at a few floor design options from different materials.
Tiled variety in action
For many years now, ceramic tiles have been the most practical flooring. This material has its drawbacks, but it should be recognized that in terms of beauty and diversity it occupies a leading position. Most often, tiles are laid in the kitchen, bathroom or hallway.
People with excellent artistic taste and developed imagination can come up with a floor design on their own, combining products from different collections or even from different manufacturers. Unfortunately, not everyone can do it. It is much easier to use tiles from one collection, initially selected according to the texture and color scheme.
Some tile manufacturers offer such interesting solutions that it is quite simple to buy it and lay it in the most usual way. I must say that only eminent manufacturers are capable of such courage, which means that the cost of such tiles is quite high.
You can create an original floor design in the living room by buying tile from one collection and laying it on the floor in the form of a carpet: in the center of the room is a tile with a picture framed by decor, and around it is a plain tile.
How about a combination of materials?
For those who prefer wood, but understand that this is not very practical in the kitchen, the combined design of the floor from laminate (or parquet) and tile is perfect.
Porcelain decoration options
Porcelain stoneware is no less decorative than tile. Modern technologies of its production allow to achieve an incredible effect.
There are a great many ways of laying porcelain stoneware. As well as from a tile, from it it is possible to lay out a "carpet".Some manufacturers produce special collections that allow you to do this without unnecessary trouble.
In addition, the collections often include such elements as skirting boards, steps and cornices for them. Thanks to this, you can design the hall and staircase in the same style.
The floor of this material can be matte or glossy.
Porcelain tile allows you to make the design of the floor in the apartment a key detail of the interior. At the same time, all other finishing materials and furniture will only complement it. Or it can become almost invisible, favorably shading that part of the room that you want to accent.
It should be noted that the more complex the coating pattern, the higher its cost. The cheapest and at the same time the most durable is homogeneous porcelain tile. It is also called “salt and pepper” for its external resemblance to this mixture. The variety of its colors is small. Plain material is a bit more expensive - an average of 50%. Even more expensive is granite imitating natural stone, but its wear resistance is much lower.
Particularly unusual may be the design of a glazed porcelain stoneware floor. Here, the choice of drawing is limited only by the imagination of the artist. In the matte version, such material is not very expensive, but polishing adds to its price from 50 to 100%. But such a floor looks like a hall of the Palace of Versailles.
Summing up, we can say that the creation of an original floor design from modern materials does not require large financial costs or special knowledge. For reasons of economy, you can stack it yourself.
