Why is the tiled floor laid a year ago cracked?

Last year, I independently made a tile flooring in the corridor. Literally after 5 months, the surface began to crack. This is my first experience of such work, it seems that I did everything correctly, as it is written on the Internet. Tile bought Ambiente 450x450 mm in size, glue - ARDEX. I was so advised in the store. Judging by the information on specialized forums, are the materials selected correctly? What then could be the reason?

We agree with you regarding the correct choice of both floor tiles and special glue. Most likely, the reason for the violation of the technology of laying floor tiles. Before starting work, it is important to understand that the resulting coating must be designed to withstand significant loads. And this factor is primarily ensured by the correct application of the adhesive composition. The appearance of cracks occurs in those places where there are voids, and they are formed from the uneven application of tile glue.

Important! When laying floor tiles, we strongly recommend applying adhesive composition to both the base and the tile itself. In this case, you need to use the comb in such a way that the direction of the glue on the floor and the tile is perpendicular to each other.

To prevent tiles from moving when drying, use paper tape

It may be superfluous, but nevertheless, we recall that you need to knead the glue mixture strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. In addition, we draw your attention to the layer of applied adhesive solution - the thicker it is, the greater the likelihood that the tile will move during the drying process. To reduce such risks after installation, it is worthwhile to fix the coating elements using ordinary paper tape. In practice, experience shows that in this situation no other adhesive tape is suitable, although it will not be very pleasant to wash the finished tile coating from the adhesive tape. Only after complete drying of the applied coating can you begin to remove the crosses, clean the seams of adhesive residues and grout the joints.

As you can see, in principle, there is nothing complicated in laying floor tiles. Now analyze the work you have done, perhaps you yourself will understand what you did wrong.
