Why was the laminate that was laid two years ago deformed?

My question is about laminate flooring. It was set up about 2 years ago. Specialists were invited - the brigade was found on an ad on the Internet. The guys coped with the work very quickly, we went to the sea for a week and during this time they laid the laminate in 3 rooms. At that time they were very satisfied. But today we have sex problems. Laminate is deformed at the joints. What to do, really have to completely remove the coating? What could be the reason? We have a one-story house.

Possible causes of deformation

It is difficult to determine the exact cause without a detailed examination of your situation on site. But all the same, we dare to suggest that perhaps the reason is increased humidity. Most likely, the technology was violated with the device of the floor cake:

  • Firstly, waterproofing is poorly made.
  • Secondly, the laminate elements themselves, when connected to each other, were not put on glue.

Judging by your description, it’s not the laminate itself that has deteriorated, but its locks. The fact is that they are not protected by a water-repellent coating. The masters probably missed this point and during the installation the joints and seams of the laminate were not treated with special moisture-resistant impregnation.

How to fix the situation?

In the event that the surface of the castle laminate coating is seriously deformed and there are signs of damage, defective areas should be removed. Where defective lamellas lay, new elements are laid, naturally in compliance with the technology and matched exactly in color.

Perhaps our assumption is wrong and the cause of the deformation is different. In this case, during the dismantling process, you will come across the fact that the laminate is glued. Carefully dismantle the damaged lamella does not work. In this case, the places of defects can be tried to close up with acrylic sealant, acrylic or latex putty on wood.

  • If sealant is used, it must be ensured that it is matched in color to the coating. If necessary, you can mix two colors. The substance will fill the cracks in 3-4 stages, a spatula is used to level it.
  • Putty is applied to the coating, it is allowed to dry, after which it is sanded and varnished.

Whether one of the methods proposed by us is suitable only for you to decide. In case of critical damage, as it is not sad, you will have to lay a new coating.
