How to arrange the floor in the bath on a concrete base?

I'm going to build a bath. I would like to hear the opinion of professionals regarding the installation of floors. As I understand it, the floor should be concrete. In principle, I know how to make it, I am interested in the following: does the technology for making such a floor in a bath differ from a similar design in a normal room, for example, in a kitchen?

To begin with, it is worth noting that in the bath all surfaces and structures are subjected to increased thermal stresses. And this means that when choosing building materials it is necessary to give preference only to the highest quality. Moreover, this applies to floors, to which very high demands are made.

The floor structure in the bathhouse can have a wooden finish or be made of concrete with subsequent laying of ceramic tiles. At the same time, there is no certain pattern, different rooms in the bath can have different types of floors.

Now specifically for your question. Yes, of course, the concrete floor in the bath is the most practical and reliable. It is performed in the vestibule, shower, and in the steam room (although plank flooring is often preferred here). In a concrete structure, it is relatively easy to construct a sewer system when the outflow of water is carried out correctly.

The technology for installing concrete floors in a bathhouse is no different from a conventional floor concrete structure. All work is done according to the same algorithm. You can find all the details of such work on our website in the corresponding section. Here we want to emphasize that the process is in principle extremely simple:

  • Gravel base is laid, leveled and compacted.
  • A layer of concrete is poured (use only high grade cement).
  • Aesthetics and practicality of the concrete base is given by the device of ceramic flooring.

The floor in the dressing room and steam room should ideally be covered with a floorboard, and of high quality. Although cork boards or fiber mats can be used as an alternative. Whichever option is preferred, it is important to observe one condition - the distance must be maintained between the concrete base and the topcoat. Thus, ventilation and drainage of the final coating will be ensured.
