How to quickly and effectively get rid of paint on a wooden floor?
I waited until the winter was over to repair the floors in two rooms, with a total area of 35 sq.m. We are talking about a wooden plank floor, which is already more than a dozen years old. I believe that the boards themselves were perfectly preserved, but there are a lot of layers of paint on top - I think at least five. I plan to remove the paint, sand the boards themselves, and then open them with a good varnish. Tell me, please, what is the best way to get rid of paint?
In principle, with regard to the removal of paint, we can not offer anything new here. Currently used methods of removing old paint from wooden floors:
- Using special chemicals.
- Using a hair dryer.
- Using special professional grinding equipment.
In your case, the first two options will be more adequate. If we talk from the point of view of self-production.
Correctly evaluate whether it is worth spending time and money on the restoration of old floors. Today the market is replete with natural materials affordable and with excellent performance. And the device of a new floor cake will be faster and less expensive.
If only the option with restoration of old floors is suitable for you, then we suggest considering two of the most affordable options: chemicals and a hairdryer.
Now it is not a problem in the building materials store to purchase special chemicals, after application, which the paint will peel off and it can be easily removed. But you need to use them very carefully. Perform work only with the use of protective equipment (respirator, goggles, gloves) and only in a well-ventilated or ventilated area. But keep in mind that such chemicals are not cheap.
It will be cheaper to remove the paint with a building hair dryer. It can even be rented at a specialized company. And even if you buy such a hairdryer for yourself, then still this way of removing old layers of paint is the most budgetary. But it will take a long time to tinker - if there is no rush, then this option is relevant.
