Good afternoon, Roman.

Today in construction, two types of roll materials are used that prevent the penetration of moist air:

  1. vapor barrier films
  2. vapor permeable membranes.

The latter, in turn, are divided into several types depending on the transmission capacity (gram of water per square meter of area):

  • pseudo-diffusion - up to 300 g / m2:
  • diffusion - from 300 to 1000 g / m2;
  • superdiffusive - more than 1000 g / m2.

It is best to use materials of the last two types to equip the insulation of the subfloor - they have larger pores, so they will not lose their penetrating ability due to dust settling. You can use the available roll materials of the Isospan B or Izospan C brand - as statistics show, they are used in most cases. If humidity is high, it is recommended to use Izospan D membrane or fabric with anti-condensation coating Izospan DM.

If during installation of the floor it is not possible to make a ventilation gap, then Tyvek vapor barrier materials can be used - this film can be laid directly on the thermal insulation layer. The materials of BRANE and DOMIZOL brands have also proven themselves well - they cope with the task no worse than the popular Isospan vapor barrier.

Finally, I want to say that the safety and durability of boards and lags most of all depend on their quality and compliance with construction technology. As for the effectiveness of vapor barrier films, any of the modern materials is able to provide high-quality moisture removal from thermal insulation. Of course, in full compliance with the rules for their use.
