How to soak a rough screed in a country house

Hello.

In the country house (while without interior decoration) the floor is in the form of a rough screed, which is very dusty. How can it be temporarily (for a year or two) that it is not very costly to cover the floor, so that later, without removing this cover, lay warm water floors.

Hello Svetlana.

Your problem is solved very simply. You can use this in two ways - it all depends on the floor area and the funds that you are willing to allocate to eliminate its shortcomings:

  • impregnate a rough screed with deep penetration soil;
  • pour the floor with a self-leveling mixture.

The first case is cheaper and suitable for a limited budget or a large cultivated area. For impregnation, you can use compositions with a maximum degree of penetration, for example, "Soil No. 6" manufactured by Artisan. Before using it, the floor should be cleaned and dried. The primer can be applied in any way - with a paint brush, a roller and even a spray gun, covering the surface at least 3 times. After the composition dries, a stable polymer compound is formed in the surface layer of concrete, which in its structure resembles plastic. Your floor will not only not dust. The reinforcing layer protects the concrete from moisture and protects it from cracking. In addition, with the help of a primer you will prepare a rough foundation for any further work.

Using a self-leveling mixture, although it is a more expensive repair method, with its help you will get a high-quality finish coating with a minimum of costs. Moreover, in your case there is no need to use expensive products of well-known European companies - you can use inexpensive Bergauf, Ceresit, Forman or Knauf formulations. The floor leveler should be diluted with water according to the instructions on the packaging. The resulting composition is poured onto the floor and carefully leveled, rolling with a special needle roller - this will remove air bubbles from it. Note that this procedure should be performed as quickly as possible, since the hardening of self-leveling mixtures takes literally 20-30 minutes. After the final setting of all components of the liquid composition takes place (usually it takes no more than 24 hours), the floor will be ready for use. As in the previous case, the leveler applied on top of the rough foundation will not interfere at all later, during the installation of underfloor heating.
