How to make a floor screed with your own hands

Hello. I wanted to ask about the floor screed (step-by-step actions).

  1. Sweep the floor clean.
  2. Walk along the perimeter and seams with hydromastics.
  3. To treat the entire concrete floor with a deep penetration primer, or can you immediately pass concrete contact without using a primer ?.
  4. Can a plastic mesh instead of iron?
  5. I will use sand concrete m-300, I plan to make a screed with a thickness of 4 cm, the room area is 14 square meters. m

Hello Andrey.
You absolutely rightly see the algorithm of actions for the implementation of floor screed. The durability of the finish coating depends on how well the surface of the concrete base is prepared, therefore, cleaning the floor and other preliminary measures should be approached with maximum responsibility.
It is best to treat the surface of the old floor with a deep penetration primer, since the concrete contact forms an adhesive layer only on the surface of the material. With deep-penetrating solutions such as Ceresit CT-17, Artisan C-5, Tiefgrund 301 and others, the adhesion of the screed to the concrete base will be stronger, which means it will last much longer. After processing with such primers, there is no need to apply concrete contact - this will be an extra waste of finance and time.
As for the reinforcement belt, when arranging screeds up to 50 mm thick, it is recommended to install it only on the bases subject to shear, bending and other elastic deformations. Since in your case the work will be carried out on a monolithic overlap with a layer thickness of a sand-cement mixture of 4 cm, then laying a reinforcing mesh is not necessary. However, for reliability, you can use both plastic and steel armor belts. In the future, he can do good work, preventing cracking of the screed during operation. Of course, the reinforcing reinforcement should be in the middle of the sand cement layer - for this, the mesh will need to be laid at a height of about 2 cm from the old concrete base.
