6 things in the house that have an expiration date, and you don’t even know about it

Each item from everyday life has its own expiration date, which is not always indicated by the manufacturer. This should not be forgotten, since expired household products lose their properties, accumulate harmful substances and can become not only useless, but also dangerous.

Extension cords and stabilizers

On such products, the term of operation is most often not set, but in vain. They are designed to work with a certain load, the excess of which leads to the melting of parts, and then extension cords, stabilizers and surge protectors become a source of ignition and cause damage to electrical appliances. Every two years it is recommended to replace them with new ones.

Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide contains active oxygen, due to which the liquid has bactericidal properties. A closed bottle of peroxide can be stored in a cool dark place for 1 year, but if it is printed, after 2 months the useful qualities are lost and the peroxide turns into ordinary water.

Tea bags

This popular product is convenient to use on the road, at work and at home, especially since the choice of tea in single-use packaging is huge. However, you should know that if loose leaf tea is stored for up to 2 years, tea bags are made from cheaper raw materials with the presence of tea dust, oxidize fairly quickly and therefore have a shelf life of 6 months in sealed packaging.

Cutting board

Wooden and plastic kitchen boards during the cooking process get scratches, chips and cracks, in which dangerous bacteria can multiply under the influence of moisture and food. In order not to harm yourself and others, at home you should use chopping boards for no more than 3 years. Boards used by professional chefs in the catering sector should be changed at least once a year.

Toothbrush

This personal hygiene item needs to be washed daily with hot running water, weekly with soap and stored in a glass with bristles up. The more thoroughly the brush owner brushes his teeth, the faster it wears out and gets dirty. On average, a toothbrush lasts 2-4 months, but if it was used during a viral disease, then after recovery, it must be replaced with a new one to avoid re-infection.

Towels

The service life of towels largely depends on the purpose (personal, kitchen, bath, foot), the quality of the fabric, the conditions of use and washing. Since they are often wet and are a medium for the reproduction of bacteria, it is necessary to wash, and sometimes boil, often at high temperature. From this, towels quickly wear out and last an average of 3 years.

Despite the fact that not all household items indicate the period of use, they have one and it must be taken into account when organizing an effective and safe household.
