7 mistakes when choosing curtains for a room with a low ceiling
If the height of the ceilings in the room is lower than 2.5 meters, you have to think about how textile decoration can visually increase it. Performing this task, you may encounter some errors when choosing new curtains.
Decorative cornice
This cornice is attached to the wall and cannot be placed above the ceiling plinth, as a result of which there is a gap between the ceiling and the cornice, which visually reduces the already small height of the room. The wider the ceiling baseboard, the greater the clearance.

Hard pelmet
If the plastic cornice does not seem very attractive in appearance, it can be covered with a strip of fabric or a hard lambrequin, but not in a room with a low ceiling, since such decoration attracts attention.
The height of the room due to this is visually reduced, so any pelmet, even the classic one, should be avoided in it.
Short curtains
The room, in which the curtains cover only the area of the window, seems even lower than it actually is. The exceptions are the kitchen, where short Roman ones look appropriate.

Inappropriate curtain model

For low ceilings, multi-tiered constructions of heavy fabrics with a catchy pattern, lush frills, ruffles and decorative pickups that focus attention on themselves are not suitable, due to which the space of the room may seem smaller.
It is better to dwell on models of curtains made of light fabrics of natural colors, flowing in straight vertical lines.
Crushing curtains
Dividing curtains by color, ornament or texture of the fabric horizontally is only possible in rooms with high ceiling beams.
If the room is small in height and width, this decoration technique should be avoided. Horizontal stripes, edges at the top or bottom of the curtains will impair the perception of the already low room.
Excessive decoration
In low rooms should strive for a minimal decorative finish curtains. It is not recommended to use ties, frills, loops, rings, clips, cords and other elements that visually lower the ceiling.
