How to make an imitation of a brick on a wall with your own hands: simple ways with a photo

A brick wall is a common occurrence in the interiors of houses and apartments. Usually, such an emphasis is made to emphasize hotel decor items. Also, the finished area under the brick creates a feeling of the strength of the walls, which means reliability and security.

There are many ways to simulate a brick, you can cope with creating such a background yourself. Under this most often stand out a wall without a window frame, an apron in the kitchen, a niche, a place where a fireplace or doorway is located. False brick is designed either to match the color of natural material, or in the same color as the interior, then the emphasis will fall on the texture.

Wallpaper and photo wallpaper

Wallpapering is the easiest way to create a brick wall. There was a period when the cheapest options with a pattern of bricks were produced, such instances were glued in the kitchen, corridor. Today, a large selection is offered on a more durable basis (vinyl, non-woven) and fiberglass.

Photo wall murals look spectacular and realistic. They can be bought at retail outlets, or can be ordered at design studios, coming with their own sketch.

Popularity is gaining wallpaper, which depicts not just a brick wall, a composition under grafitti with peeling paint or plaster.

Wall painting

The cheapest way to create an imitation of a brick plot is to paint the wall accordingly. Here you will have to remember drawing lessons at school or gain additional knowledge in the process of work, because you have to draw each brick separately, highlighting the relief masonry.

To achieve a realistic effect, several shades will be needed for the decoration: paint for the seam and two or three for drawing bricks (red-brown, yellow or orange). You can use the color scheme by adding it to an aqueous emulsion or acrylic paint.

Foam application

For the interior finish "under the brick" you can apply polystyrene. The advantages of this method:

  • low cost of material;
  • volumetric effect of masonry;
  • the design does not require fastening with strong adhesive compounds;
  • it’s not necessary to have professional skills; anyone will cope with such a finish.

With this method, you can cut a brick wall directly on the foam with a knife or take a soldering iron and, melting the material, draw lines. If it is more convenient to cut individual bricks and glue them, then proceed as follows. The main thing is then to paint the finished design in the right color and install it on the wall.

Stucco masonry

Stucco is a great option for creating a brick decor, it is suitable for both external and internal decoration. But for the interior, gypsum putty (plaster) is preferable. Apply evenly non-thick layer to the wall (3-5 mm) and quickly form false bricks.

To do this, prepare one of these devices in advance:

  • stamp for extruding the pattern;
  • tool for masonry joints;
  • masking tape to create a stencil on the wall.

In the latter case, the adhesive tape is removed after plastering. External work on the design of the basement and walls is done with cement-sand plaster. Such a solution is easy to prepare yourself.

Facing with decorative tiles

The method is expensive, but the most realistic. When you design a certain area with clinker tiles, you can not immediately distinguish it, it is made of brick or ceramic. A successful imitation comes from the fact that both materials are made from fired clay.

The decorative tiles are glued to the prepared even wall, for this they use liquid nails or tile adhesive, grout the joints and enjoy a realistic finish. Decorative tiles are also suitable for cladding facades.
