What insulation is suitable for my version of the floor device in the gym?

Good afternoon! In a private house, in one of the rooms I want to arrange a gym. In general, I change the water system and it was in this room that I had to tear off the flooring. As it turned out, the floor has this design: at the bottom 15 cm a pillow made of expanded clay, then a concrete screed, and on top of a fiberboard or chipboard (all the time I confuse). It was always cold on the floor. Now I want to make the floor this way: also an expanded clay pillow, but I’ll make the screed thinner, but on top of it I will put 50x50 wooden blocks, and already have 18 mm boards on them. I have a question of the following nature: in my particular case, what insulation will be the most optimal? I'm interested in the most budget option.

The floor in the home gym must withstand heavy loads
Home gym flooring must be strong first

Your proposed option has several drawbacks

  1. The thickness of the board 18 mm is clearly not enough for a good wooden floor, and this is especially true for the gym. According to the logic of things, it turns out that it is in this room that intense mechanical loads, moreover, of an impact nature, will appear on the floor.
  2. Reducing the thickness of the concrete screed will cause it to crack under the influence of loads and begin to peel off. As a result, the floor in your gym will begin to walk.
  3. Expanded clay is not a very successful material for the device of the floor in the gym.
  4. Bars 50x50 - it is not entirely clear, we are talking about their dimensions or is it a step between them.

What is the best way out of the situation?

Say right away, review your budget. Maybe you can save on something else? If you consider exactly your model of floor cake, then at least you need to take a 100 mm thick board. Construction: a thin concrete screed on expanded clay pillow will definitely crack, and subsequently problems with the floor are inevitable. You will also fasten the bars to the screed with dowels. Yes, and a thin board will work like a spring, trying to move the bar. Therefore, we recommend that you take a more careful approach to the selection of materials when installing exactly your floor model.

As for warming! The recommendations are as follows: PPP, polystyrene foam or other similar material. In this case, this factor does not change the essence of the technology.

Mineral wool insulation
