Which floor to make in the workshop - with polyurethane polymer coating or epoxy?

I decided to open my own business. Almost built a small workshop - I will collect furniture there. Now I am faced with the choice of how to make the floor so that it is durable. I read special literature and settled on 2 options: polyurethane or epoxy polymer coating. But I can’t decide which one to choose. Waiting for the advice of professionals!

Hello! All "representatives" of polymeric materials (acrylic, epoxy, urethane, polyester, polyurethane, etc.) are similar to each other, but differences naturally exist. As for the materials you have chosen, we will say the following.

Epoxy polymers

Epoxy resin floors are more suitable for home use.
Epoxy polymer floors are more suitable for housing

Epoxy polymer coating for the floor is 2-component, that is, consists of resin and hardener. After mixing the ingredients, the resulting composition has a "limited life". As it develops, it quickly thickens, thereby changing the impregnating property of the material. The impregnation in comparison with the polyurethane composition is several times less.

Important! As you know, it is the quality of the base impregnation that plays an important role in the installation of floors. Thanks to it, a strong surface layer is formed. The depth of impregnation is very important.

Polyurethane Polymers

In industrial premises, of course, a polyurethane coating
In industrial premises, uniquely, polyurethane coating

Polyurethane polymer flooring can be both 2-component and one-component. In the second case, moisture from the air acts as a hardener. And this means that it is almost impossible to disrupt the recipe and thorough mixing of the components. The density of the polyurethane composition is less, which means that the impregnation of the base will be deeper. In addition, polyurethane materials are characterized by higher hardness and tensile strength of the order of (60 MPa) compared to epoxy. Yes, and tests on the wear resistance of polyurethane coatings showed that it is higher than that of "competitors".

Our answer is this!

When installing pilaf in industrial premises, where intensive dynamic and mechanical loads are inevitable, it is more advisable to make a polyurethane polymer coating. Undoubtedly, this option is suitable for you.
