How to make the floor in the garage resistant to abrasion?

Good afternoon, I need to arrange the floor in the garage. His aesthetic qualities interest me a little, a garage for his own needs, so quality is primarily given priority. Naturally I plan to make a concrete floor with a dust-free surface. I believe that such a floor will be resistant to abrasion and is inert to the effects of acids, alkalis, oils, in a word, of everything that is usually used in a garage. I am interested in the final phase of the construction of such a concrete floor, namely, what impregnations or other materials must be listed in order for the floor surface to acquire all of the listed qualities? Please note that the budget is limited.

We welcome your option for installing a garage floor. As for the impregnation, they are of two types:

  • inorganic;
  • organic.

In inorganic, the key active substance are lithium and sodium silicates. And their main advantage is the possibility of applying to still wet concrete. Among the minuses: a low degree of resistance to abrasion, the “fear” of chemical exposure.

Organic impregnations are polymeric materials based on:

  • polyurethane;
  • epodxide;
  • latex;
  • perchlorovinyl.

It should be noted that latex and perchlorovinyl impregnations are significantly lower than polyurethane and epoxy. But they are inferior in their operational characteristics to the first two materials from the list. Epoxy, in turn, is inferior to polyurethane impregnations due to low penetration. They do not affect the deeper layers of concrete.

As an effective and relatively inexpensive material for hardening a concrete floor, it is possible to use Elacor-PU polyurethane impregnation.

It has unique properties: it has high adhesion and at the same time penetrates deep into concrete as much as its strength allows. That is, the stronger the concrete, the lower the degree of penetration. But with all this, the impregnation fills even the smallest cracks and areas with increased porosity. As a result, even the weakest points are strengthened.
