Should you trust the Knauf super floor?

Hello. I finish a country cottage. We have a whole cottage village of new buildings. I do something on my own, and to carry out serious work I invite a team of specialists. Now it’s the turn to install floors. I called the foreman, and it turned out that the guys are now completing another object. But in order not to lose time, I was advised to engage in the procurement of materials. We discussed the design of the floor cake a long time ago and settled on a dry floor screed. The master said that we will use Knauf technology - Knauf superfloor. In principle, this does not mean anything to me, but I trust the professionals. My doubts arose literally today. My neighbor also makes such a floor and a couple of hours ago he was brought up with materials. I went out to look, and it turned out that in an open truck they brought in fine-grained expanded clay, which in the rain (it was just outside) began to get wet. So I doubt - can this material really make a reliable floor?

Drop all doubt away! We are talking about excellent German technology, which is time-tested. In our country, it has been successfully used for more than 10 years. Indeed, one of the two components of this system is expanded clay sand of a fine fraction (like rice groats). The second component is gypsum fiberboard (gypsum-fiber sheet).

Arranging a Knauf super floor is very easy. All work consists of the following steps:

  • A vapor barrier layer is laid on the base.
  • A layer of expanded clay sand is poured.
  • Beacons are set at the right level.
  • Everything is carefully aligned to a flat level.
  • GVL plates are laid in a layer 2 cm thick.

Important! GVL plates are mounted with a gap of 1 cm from the walls around the perimeter and foam. Thus, effective waterproofing is performed.

That's all, the super floor is ready for further transformations! Almost immediately, it can be laid laminate, linoleum or tile. And it is very important that 2-3 days are enough for the implementation of Knauf technology. It all depends on the floor area. Rest assured, the German invention of Knauf can be fully trusted.
