In the attic, the new floor is creaking from the floor rail - what should I do?

Good afternoon. Recently I equipped the attic: I made the floor from the floor rail on the logs 150x200. Sami reiki bought ready-made in the packaging - specially chose dry so as not to creak. But as luck would have it, after 2 months there was a creak in those places where there is no lag. Visually you can see that one rail relative to another goes when you step. All slats were screwed with screws. There was a distance of 80 cm between the lags. Tell me, what can be done in this situation? Can the wood be impregnated with some compound (I heard about it somewhere) to eliminate a creak?

What are the reasons?

In order to give specific advice, I wanted to understand the full picture of the arrangement of the floor. For example, was it very important to use a backing when installing floor battens? If so, which one ?! And besides, it would not be out of place to know what glue was used when laying such a coating and was it applied at all?

When arranging a wooden floor, it is necessary to lay it on glue, self-tapping screws alone are not enough to fix the floorboards in a given position. The sagging of the floorboards most likely indicates that there is a large distance between the lags. In a word, the conclusion suggests itself that a very low-budget version of the floor device was chosen, since the new coating should not creak with the correctly implemented execution technology.

What to do?

  • According to the logic of things, floorboards creak only in those places where they go. For example, the walls do not. So, in these problem areas between the floorboards you can hammer in previously wedged wedges of the right size. They must be dry so that after drying they do not lead to new deformations. The resulting cracks can be filled with oil putty.

  • You can use a more laborious method. In places where there is a creak, floorboards need to be dismantled and additional logs laid. In this case, you can be 100% sure that you can get rid of the squeak.
  • And finally. There are no special wood impregnations that can eliminate floor creaking in principle. To eliminate the creak of the floor, more radical and complex measures are needed.
