How to lay rubber coatings on playgrounds and sports fields?

Tell us about the rubber coverings that are laid on the playgrounds and sports grounds? How complicated is the technology of their application? Sincerely, Vadim Nikolaevich.

Hello, Vadim Nikolaevich! To prevent injuries to children of different ages, playing or playing sports in outdoor areas, as well as in indoor sports facilities, it is currently recommended to use rubber coatings.

The advantages of these flooring include:

  • resistance to ambient temperature (they are not afraid of either heat or cold);
  • high strength;
  • surface elasticity;
  • quite a long life without repair;
  • unpretentiousness in leaving;
  • maintaining an attractive appearance (colors do not fade);
  • injury safety;
  • high permeability, due to which the rubber floor coating dries immediately after rain;
  • environmentally friendly material.

Important! When falling, the child does not receive abrasions and injuries, which is typical for asphalt and concrete pavements. That is why concrete and asphalt are not allowed to be used on playgrounds and sports grounds.

Application technology

A seamless technology is used for the rubber coating device, thanks to which no joints are formed that could diverge and cause injury to children. The coating is laid on rigid and semi-rigid substrates:

  • concrete;
  • asphalt;
  • compacted sand;
  • compacted crushed stone;
  • granite screenings.

This type of flooring consists of two main components: crumb rubber and a one-component polyurethane adhesive. To give a saturated color, iron oxide dyes are used as the third component.

Mixing of all components is carried out directly on the site before installation. The resulting viscous mass is distributed on the surface of the prepared base, observing the required thickness and giving any shape. After the distribution of the entire mass, they begin to compact the coating.

Work can only be done on a dry base at positive temperatures (above 12 degrees). The coating polymerizes within one day, and you can walk on it. Three days after installation, the rubber coating is completely ready for use.

The cost depends on the thickness of the coating and varies from 900 to 1,500 rubles per square meter.
