We remove cracks and irregularities from the bulk floor

Good afternoon! The floor was poured on a gypsum base, after 6-7 days small cracks appeared, like wrinkles, a width of 1-1.5 mm. How can I fix it? (there is a plaster bulk floor, gypsum plaster). We plan to put quartz-vinyl tile on top of the glue. We will be grateful for the advice.

Hello, Lena.

It is best to level the surface of the self-leveling bulk floor for laying soft or semi-hard finishing coatings with the same composition that was used to equip the base. Before starting work, take a long rule or a level rail and find all the protrusions and recesses on the flooded surface. In the process of searching, mark defective places with chalk or pencils of different colors - in the future this will simplify their identification.

The protrusions and wrinkles can be removed with a grinder. In addition, all recesses and other defective places should be sanded with sandpaper. After that, the floor surface is vacuumed (it is not recommended to wet the bulk floor) and leveled using putty, which is applied with a long spatula. What material to use in this case - gypsum plaster or self-leveling floor, decide for yourself. In the latter case, we recommend using a thicker mixture for plastering.

Without waiting until the putty is completely dry, the surface should be smoothed with a plaster. The final stage of repair work is finishing sanding the floor with sandpaper installed in the holder with a length of at least 30 cm. In order to increase the abrasion resistance of the plaster floor, its surface can be coated with a polymer primer. Among other things, it will improve the water-repellent ability of the floor and increase its adhesive ability. The latter will certainly be useful when installing the finish coating.
